Antonio Rivera Jr. - 5th Degree Master Instructor

Master Antonio Rivera Jr. started training in 1976, under the instruction of Master Robert E Beaudion and his direct student Master Marc Sattler. Master Rivera earned his Master’s belt (4th degree) in 1998 under Grandmaster Jae Chul Shin, Founder of the World Tang Soo Do Association. Master Rivera has had the opportunity to train with many top Martial Artists.

Master Rivera’s martial arts training has taken him to various parts of the World such as Korea, China, and Brazil, as well as various parts of the United States. In visiting Korea he went to Kukiwon, the home of Tae Kwon Do. His visit to China took him to many beautiful places. Some of the cities that he visited were Shanghai, Nanjin, X’ian, The Shaolin Temple, and Beijing.

Master Rivera is currently a part-time instructor at the Meriden Police Academy. He is one of the Physical Fitness Instructors and one of the Defensive Tactics Instructors. Master Rivera has conducted many self defense program with in the local community, such as the Girls Inc., City of Meriden Youth Services program, and Career Day at many of the Elementary schools in Meriden. Master Rivera has also been involved with many city events.

Marc A. Sattler - 5th Degree Master Instructor

Master Marc A. Sattler was born December 1, 1957 in Meriden, Connecticut. He gained interest in the martial arts through TV shows and movies. Master Sattler met Master Robert E. Beaudoin in 1971 while an 8th grader and started training in Tang Soo Do at that time. Master Sattler achieved his Cho Dan (1st Degree) Black Belt in 1976 and has been teaching and studying Tang Soo Do ever since. He received the rank of Master (Sah Dan) in 1987.

Currently Master Sattler teaches Tang Soo Do at Master Antonio Rivera's studio, Meriden Academy of Martial Arts in Meriden, CT. Besides being a martial artist, Master Sattler is an artist and painter who does freelance art as a sideline. His most recognizable work would be the cover painting of the Grandmaster Jae Chul Shin's first book with the WTSDA.

Master Sattler is employed by the State of Connecticut as a state corrections officer.

Master Sattler continues to learn, grow, and share and looks forward to being a member of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation.

Mark Farquharson – 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor

Mr. Mark Farquharson began training in 1988 at the Sattler Academy of Karate, under the instruction of Master Marc Sattler and his head instructor Mr. Antonio Rivera Jr. Mr. Farquharson received his Cho Dan (Black Belt) in 1995 through the World Tang Soo Do Federation. In 2007 he transferred into the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation. Mr. Farquharson recently tested for his Sam Dan (3rd degree Black Belt).

Mr. Farquharson attended college at Western New England College where he was awarded a BSBA in Computer Information Systems. He recently graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a MS in Educational Technology. He plans on returning to CCSU to gain a secondary teaching certification. Mr. Farquharson currently tutors at Platt High School in Meriden, CT. Mr. Farquharson competes regularly in the sport of Ultimate Frisbee and coaches girls track at Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT.

Daniel Farquharson – 2nd Degree Black Belt Instructor

Mr. Daniel Farquharson began training in 1986 at the Sattler Academy of Karate, under the instruction of Master Marc Sattler and his student Mr. Antonio Rivera Jr. Mr. Farquharson received his Cho Dan (Black Belt) in 1992 and his E Dan (2nd degree Black Belt) in 1995 through the World Tang Soo Do Federation. In 2007 he transferred into the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation.

Mr. Farquharson holds degrees in Material Science and Marketing. He is currently employed as a marketing manager in the metals industry.
